Pre-K to 8th Grade: Overview of the Academic Levels Served
Sunrise Learning Academy serves students from Pre-K through 8th grade, offering a tailored educational experience for each age group. Here’s a breakdown of each level:
• Pre-Kindergarten:
• Focuses on early childhood development, including social-emotional learning, foundational literacy, and numeracy skills. Activities are designed to foster creativity, curiosity, and motor skills development through play-based learning.
• Kindergarten (K):
• Prepares young learners for a more structured learning environment while continuing to build on literacy and numeracy. Our small class sizes ensure each child receives individualized attention, especially for those with an IEP (Individualized Education Program) to address specific learning needs.
• Elementary Grades (1st to 5th Grade):
• These years build on core academic subjects like reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Our personalized approach allows us to meet students at their individual learning levels, with options for remediation or enrichment as needed. Special attention is given to students who may require additional support, including students with ADHD or other learning differences.
• Middle School (6th to 8th Grade):
• Middle school students engage in more advanced studies, focusing on preparing them for high school both academically and emotionally. Core subjects are enhanced with critical thinking, problem-solving, and life skills education. Electives such as music, physical education, and art allow students to explore their interests while developing well-rounded skills.
Sunrise Learning Academy maintains small class sizes across all grade levels to ensure students receive the attention they need for success, especially those with IEPs or trauma-informed learning needs. Each student has a Personalized Learning Plan (PLP), updated regularly to track progress and adjust learning strategies accordingly.

Curriculum: Abeka Accredited Curriculum
Sunrise Learning Academy uses the Abeka curriculum, a well-respected, Christian-based educational program designed to provide a high standard of learning while integrating biblical values into everyday lessons. The curriculum is accredited and covers a wide range of subjects, ensuring that students receive a rigorous and comprehensive education.
• Core Subjects:
• Math: Engages students with practical problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and foundational concepts in geometry, algebra, and more.
• Language Arts: Focuses on reading comprehension, vocabulary development, grammar, and writing. Phonics-based instruction helps younger students build strong reading skills.
• Science & Social Studies: Incorporates hands-on experiments, interactive learning, and real-world applications in science, with social studies emphasizing geography, history, and citizenship from a biblical worldview.
Biblical Integration
• Every subject is taught through a Christian perspective, with students learning about God’s world and principles woven into every aspect of the curriculum, fostering both academic and spiritual growth.
Technology Integration
• Students benefit from a 1:1 technology ratio, with each student having access to their own device. This allows for personalized digital learning, online assessments, interactive activities, and virtual resources to enhance the traditional curriculum. The integration of technology makes it easier for students to engage with educational materials in innovative ways, preparing them for a digital world.
Therapeutic Services and Accommodations:
• For students with specific learning challenges, our curriculum is adapted with the help of in-house therapeutic services and special accommodations, ensuring no loss of instructional time while providing the necessary support.
Virtual Learning: Virtual Google Classroom Option
For families seeking a more flexible learning environment, Sunrise Learning Academy offers a Virtual Google Classroom option, allowing students to access a high-quality Christian education from home or wherever they may be. This option is designed to accommodate students who prefer remote learning while maintaining the same academic standards as our in-person classes.
How It Works:
• Access to Curriculum:
• Students enrolled in the Virtual Google Classroom option will have access to the full Abeka curriculum, just like their in-person peers. Lessons are delivered through Google Classroom, where students can view assignments, access educational resources, and submit their work.
